K40 Bed level system

3D Printed mechanism for K40 Laser cutter

The printed hinges were fitted with a socket that had to distribute the downward force evenly among both hinges.

To minimize friction, it is best to leave space between the sleeves to apply bearing grease.

This has the added benefit of holding the 2 hinges together by creating a vacuum inside the tubes when you press both hinges together.

To print hinges successfully, the preliminary work starts before you even begin the design.

Tolerances are best created as parameters and then called in the model.

Then should another adjustment be needed you only need to change 1 size.

I found that the best tolerance is 0.2 mm for snap and click systems.

Should the component rotate around a screw or other component it is best to take a tolerance of 0.3 mm.

That 0.1mm is really a world of difference in 3dprinting.
