3D Printed fashion items for Walter van Beirendonck, part of the Antwerp 6 and former director of the fashion academy, we at Antistatic created a series of 3D printed fashion items for his new clothing line. We used FDM printing with flexible filament to create semi-flexible spikes and slides that perfectly match his designs.
The production of these unique fashion items began with a thorough consultation with the client, Walter van Beirendonck. He has a long history in the fashion industry and is known for his innovative and creative designs. Our collaboration included digitizing the technical sketches, prototyping printed parts and the actual production of the 3D printed parts.
To make the spikes and diaphragms, we chose Semi-Flexible RealFilament, which allowed us to achieve the ductile properties needed for the fashion items. The production technique used is FDM printing, with this the printer, through extrusion, builds the model layer by layer. It is an environmentally friendly solution since no petroleum products are used. We produced the items using our local 3D printers in the heart of Antwerp, where we can handle both small and large runs.
During the design process, we used CAD modeling in Fusion360, which allowed us to create accurate and detailed designs suitable for production. We also created product visualizations to help Walter make decisions about the final shape and aesthetics of the fashion items.
After printing the spikes and slides, we provided a number of post-production services to prepare the items for use. This included coating, removing supporting elements and performing a thorough quality control. These processes ensured that the final products met Walter's high standards and were ready to be integrated into his new clothing line.
